North Bay Fire and Emergency Services has a new Deputy Fire Chief of Operation and Training.
The city promoted from within, giving long-time member Greg Saunders the position.
"As an Acting Captain, Greg utilized his knowledge gained in fire prevention and fire suppression, to be a very positive leader," said Chief Grant Love in a news release.
"DC Saunders has been a dedicated employee here at NBFES for more than 18 years. He has previously worked as a fire prevention officer, firefighter and most recently an Acting Captain. During this time DC Saunders has consistently strived to provide positive “customer” service.
"DC Saunders brings with him experience in management both from his education from Nipissing University and hands on experience in the business community."
Saunders will oversee the dedicated suppression force, in addition to being responsible for training.
He replaces Mike Figliola, who left after just six months to take the chief's position in Sault Ste. Marie.
