A local hockey tournament continued its tradition of raising money for the North Bay Food Bank.

The 47th edition of the NDA hockey tournament was held on December 1 and 2 in North Bay.

The event included seven teams from North Bay and Sudbury combined.

While the competition took place on the ice, tournament organizers feel the real winner was the North Bay Food Bank, as the tournament convenors were able to provide the food bank with a $1000 donation.

The NDA hockey tournament is a great event for players to showcase their talent and for the community," said Anthony Loreto, tournament convenor.

In the last five years, the tournament raised over $8600 for the North Bay Food Bank.

Debbie Marson, executive director of the North Bay Food Bank, is thrilled with the ongoing support from the tournament.

"Thank you to everyone involved in another successful NDA Hockey tournament that supports the North Bay Food Bank," she said.

"This annual event is a great contributor to the needs of the food bank and we are happy to accept a cheque for $1,000 to support our program"

The tournament will be back next year in early December and once again, expect them to be ready to gather funds for a worthy cause.
