The 27-year-old man behind the wheel of a vehicle reportedly doing donuts in Chelmsford on Sunday was killed after the vehicle rolled over.

Both he and a 21-year-old female passenger were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.

The single-vehicle incident took place just before 2:55 p.m. at Nickel Offset Road in Chelmsford,

Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene. Firefighters were first to arrive and began life-saving measures on the driver until paramedics arrived.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim’s name is not being released by GSPS out of respect for his family’s wishes.

GSPS’s preliminary investigation indicated that the driver was doing donuts in an open field when he lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a rollover. Both occupants, who were not wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the vehicle.

The Traffic Management Unit’s investigation of the incident is ongoing.
