The Ministry of Natural Resources is looking for the public’s assistance to help solve a natural resource violation case which resulted in the unlawful shooting and abandonment of a bull moose.

On September 20, 2006, during the open moose season for archery, a mature bull moose was killed with a rifle and abandoned in a marsh at the west edge of O-Pee-Chee Lake in Wildlife Management Unit 40.

Moose that are unlawfully harvested affect the moose population as a whole in that area and have a direct effect on the number of adult validation tags issued to legal hunters.

Anyone who might have information pertaining to this poaching incident or any other natural resource violation are being asked to call the MNR TIPS line at 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667). Anyone with information who would like to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
