Man who took out Tim Horton's drive-thru sign charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

A man who took out a Huntsville Tim Hortons drive-thru sign, then fled the scene faces multiple charges. 

On April 16, at 7:45 p.m. Huntsville OPP were dispatched to a collision in the parking lot of the Tim Horton's located at the corner of Hanes Road and West Road.

Police say a car, travelling at a high rate of speed, left Hanes Road into the parking lot of the donut shop. It ultimately collided with a Tim Horton's drive-thru sign and a hydro pole. The driver fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.

Police made the arrest on West Road, and then took him to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Following the police investigation into the circumstances of the collision, Corey Howard, 29, of Huntsville, is charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired 
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired-blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg 
  • Drive a vehicle with cannabis readily available 
  • Novice driver operates a motor vehicle with- blood alcohol concentration above zero 
  • Fail to remain at the scene of an accident 

Howard was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on May 5, in the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville.
