Man arrested for arson in McIntyre Street parking garage fire

The garbage can was destroyed and an exit sign was damaged in the incident, which caused close to $4,000 in damages

A 52-year-old North Bay man has been arrested following a recent arson in the McIntyre Street parking garage.

Police received a report on December 5t at 5:30 am, about a fire in a garbage can on the main level of the parking garage. 

The fire department quickly extinguished the blaze but the garbage can was destroyed and an exit sign was damaged.

The fire caused about $4,000 in damage. North Bay Police Service officers investigated the incident, and video surveillance footage was used to identify the accused. Police later found a suspect and he was arrested and charged. 

No injuries were reported.

Lawrence Robertson is charged with:

  • Arson – damage to property
  • Fail to comply with a release order

Robertson was held for a bail hearing.
