Main Street will reopen in time for Old Fashioned Christmas Walk

'Main Street will be open, and all of the construction will be done for the year.' However, on the night of the 33rd Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Walk — which runs from 6–9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. in Downtown North Bay — Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic

Although we are still in the pre-Halloween stage of autumn, Downtown North Bay & Waterfront's 33rd Annual Old Fashioned Christmas Walk is only one month away and in its final planning stages.

Any concerns that the Main Street Makeover construction would affect the popular Christmas Walk have been put to rest. The contractor is on schedule to wrap up work for this year and the Christmas Walk, the unofficial launch of the holiday season in downtown North Bay is a go.

"Main Street will be open, and all of the construction will be done for the year," says Downtown North Bay & Waterfront Executive Director Amber Livingstone. "As usual, we will close Main Street down for vehicles for the event," which runs from 6–9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24.

Like many traditional holiday gatherings, the pandemic greatly affected the Christmas Walk but last year saw a return to normalcy. The typical events and attractions of past downtown Christmas events will again be available this year — plus Livingstone promises Downtown Waterfront North Bay has some surprises in store, including some musical guests.

"We will have the traditional tree lighting, a marshmallow roast, we can confirm BeaverTails will be downtown, and Cheapskates will hold its popular Rail Jam."

Plus, a jolly, bearded man in red is apt to make an appearance.

"Main Street will be in great shape, adds Livingstone, "and we'll have a great Christmas Walk once again."
