Madigan newest Honourary Colonel

North Bay resident Harriet Madigan has been appointed as the latest Honourary Colonel at the 22 Wing change of appointment ceremony at the 22 Wing Fitness and Wellness Centre on Friday.  

Madigan, who has received a Diamond Jubilee for her role with Waterfront Friends and is the organizer for the local group Living Fit Inside - Out.  

Madigan, is the honourary Colonel for 21 Aerospace Control and Warning Squadron.  

She takes over the spot from Canadore President George Burton, who, in turn, takes over from Scott Clark as the Honourary Colonel for 22 Wing.   

In addition to Honorary Colonels Burton and Madigan, 22 Wing boasts a third Honorary Colonel, Tom Hedican, 51 Aerospace Control & Warning (Operational Training) Squadron Honorary Colonel.  

More than 225 distinguished Canadians have served the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) through the Honorary Colonel program since 1970. 

There are some 60 appointments throughout the RCAF at any one time. 

Honorary Colonels act as advisors to unit commanders and become key members within the air force environment.
