Local artist Mackenzie Drive is set to debut a new song, based on his personal journey and experiences living with anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"This song for me, is about anxiety and coping in a healthy way during a pandemic which will change the world forever for the better," said the native of Trout Creek, Ont.

"Anxiety" is set to drop next Tuesday and will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube.

Now living in North Bay, Makenzie Drive describes himself as an involved member of the local 2SLGBTQ+  community who has faced anxiety in his own life.

“The world has changed for many of us with COVID-19. We miss our families, our friends and our communities. When you have anxiety issues, life can be more challenging to get out of bed in the morning, but we do it," he said.

Taking musical inspiration from artists like the Spice Girls and Lady Gaga, Mackenzie Drive says he wrote the song "at a place in my life where I felt all alone like many folks are feeling today. When the world was hit by COVID-19 that forces the world to change, it can raise more anxiety for folks like me."

The artist shared a special note about "Anxiety." He said many individuals took part in community collaboration during the pandemic by offering their vocals remotely, recording on their own personal devices to help create the pandemic "news reports" that are featured in the song.

Mackenzie Drive invites you to join that community by following on Facebook, Instagram, and  YouTube — and to check out "Anxiety" June 16th.
