As of Friday, Lucas Edmonds has 14 games remaining and with 95 points, the Frontenacs star forward needs 20 in his final 14 games to make North Bay hockey history and break the North Bay area major junior single season scoring record set 70 years ago.
It was way back in 1952 when North Bay's Ken Wharram put together an amazing season with the OHA's (Major Junior back then) Galt Blackhawks. In 45 games, Wharram netted 35 goals and 79 assists for 114 points.
The former NHLer who passed away in 2017 has held onto that record as the highest major junior point total for a local North Bay area player for decades.
Callander's Bill Barber chased the record in both 1970-71 and 1971-72 when the Flyers Hall of Famer had 105 and 107 points respectively with the Kitchener Rangers.

No other North Bay area player has broken the 100 point barrier. While players like Darren Turcotte, Tyler Rennette and Matt Marquardt put together some solid single season numbers'; none were close to the elusive triple digit mark.
Edmonds, who, at 20 is in his first year with the Frontenacs after playing junior in Sweden since 2016, has 30 goals and 65 assists for 95 overall through 54 games. That puts him on pace for 120 points.
