Los Lobos, hot on the heels of the most successful Wine Gala to date, entertained at the Capitol Centre to a two-thirds capacity crowd. Their Tex-Mex flavour was interspersed with Neil Young’s, ‘Down by the River’ and a Grateful Dead tune for the ‘Deadheads’ in the crowd.
The six member group, playing a wide variety of instruments got the crowds moving with some old favourites, as well as some selections from their new cd, ‘The Town and the City’. The new tunes are reminiscent of their earlier sound that earned them 3 Grammys.
From the slow blues rhythm of ‘Hold On’ to the hot tempo of ‘La Bamba’ in their encore, Los Lobos energized the stage. By the end of the performance, they had everyone dancing at their seats. They managed to get most of the women from the first few rows to join them on stage for their encore numbers.
Don’t miss the Capitol's next presentation,
Dad's, The Musical, playing November 18th.
