It took almost three years to make, and another to be released, but locally shot film noir "The Pasta Killer" is ready to come to DVD on January 21st.
Filmed entirely in the North Bay area, the black and white thriller premiered in January of 2016 at the Widdifield Secondary School Theatre and went on to win awards on the festival circuit, including a "Silver Award" at the L.A. Neo-Noir Film Festival in Beverly Hills where it screened again.
Now almost a year after its North Bay premiere, the film is ready to be shared.
On Saturday, January 21st at 7 p.m. at the White Water Gallery on Main St., 200 copies of "The Pasta Killer" will be available for the public to come and pick up. Though donations to help cover the cost of making the disc are appreciated, the DVDs are free for anyone who wants one.
"North Bay has been really supportive of the film," says writer and director Stefan Phillips. "When we were filming people were always interested in what we were doing. When we released it, the Widdifield Theatre was packed and everyone was incredible. It's great to see so much encouragement for smaller film projects like this one - I think it spurs other local artists to do more."
There will also be some art, props from the film, a photo booth with costumes, refreshments, and screenings of the film's bloopers and outtakes at the DVD release.
Just 200 copies of the film are being made, so those looking for a piece of the "Pasta" only have the one night to get it.
