The Salvation Army North Bay Ministries kicked off their annual Christmas campaign in late November and it looks like they are in need of a December donation boost.

The local goal this year is $250,000, which is comprised of the Red Kettles and donations.

With less than two weeks until Christmas Eve, the Salvation Army says it has only collected 36 per cent ($90,000) of the much needed funds.

Major Stephanie Watkinson, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army North Bay Ministries, says they are normally well past the 50 per cent mark by this time in December.

"It is down a bit, but kettles are on par as previous years but our office donations are down 35 per cent from last year," said Watkinson, noting the postal strike impacted mail in donations.

There are currently six kettles in North Bay that all include the TipTap machines.

Financial donations can also be dropped off at our location at the Salvation Army location at 134 McIntyre St. East.

Donations can also be made online at www.salvationarmy.ca/northbay.

“These funds are used in North Bay for year round programs and services as well as Christmas food hampers," says Major Stephanie Watkinson, Corps Officer of The Salvation Army North Bay Ministries.

“It is through the wide range of services that we are able to locally provide hope and dignity to the residents of North Bay and surrounding area.”
