North Bay councillor Mike Anthony is one of a handful of local politicians that applaud the news that local Nipissing MP Vic Fedeli has been named the interim leader of the Ontario PC party today.

Anthony calls Fedeli a man with vision and a guy who gets things done.
“I’ve known Vic for many years and since I was first elected to city council in 2000, I was there and served with Vic for both of his terms as mayor, from 2003 to 2010,” recalled Anthony.
“Regardless of what party you support or believe in, I would have to say you should look at the effectiveness of the person.
“When looking at Vic Fedeli, you’re looking at a leader who will probably be one of the most effective and impactful leaders the province of Ontario has ever seen,” noted Anthony.
“I believe that if the PC party is smart, they’ll look at him as far more than an interim leader. I’m really happy for him and I believe he’s perfect for the job.”
Jay Aspin is a former city councillor and former MP for Nipissing-Timiskaming.
“Heartiest congratulations our own Vic Fedeli who was just appointed interim leader unanimously by our PC Caucus,” stated the conservative.
“This afternoon they need to make that selection permanent. Vic will get this province back on track!”
Jared Hunt, the Nipissing NDP Riding President, also offers his congratulations to Fedeli.
“The fact that Mr. Fedeli is the interim PC leader is likely exciting for his supporters and family, but for the NDP team, it’s business as usual," stated Hunt in an email to BayToday.ca
"We have a game plan and we’re sticking to it because it’s working.
“The numbers tell everything. In the last election, we gained 7 points and the Liberal and PCs went down in numbers."
Hunt says the Nipissing NDP team will be nominating a strong candidate in the weeks to come.
