Officials with the North Bay Music Festival have decided to cancel the North Bay Kiwanis Music Festival which was scheduled for April 20 to May 1.

"We considered the recent public health announcements, school closures and other league and event suspensions due to the coronavirus pandemic," said event Co-Chairs Caleb O'Connor and Michael Burke in a news release.

"Our Festival often fills our halls with many students, parents and family, in relatively close quarters.

"We have considered whether to postpone or cancel our Music Festival.  However, any delay would push the 2020  Festival into a new grade year for many of the participants and indeed roll right into the preparation for the 2021 Music Festival.

"As a result, we regret to advise that our North Bay Kiwanis Music Festival, previously scheduled for April 20 to May 1, 2020, has been cancelled." they continued.

Officials say the Music Festival will be returning all fees paid for the registrations and releasing all of the planned adjudicators.

"The Nipissing Kiwanis Club looks forward to presenting our Music Festival again in 2021," the release stated.

"We certainly encourage all of the intended participants to continue their music studies, with all of the enthusiasm and accomplishment which they always demonstrate so well."
