Estevan, SK - Callander's Zachary Roy was the only reason the Pickering Panthers were in the Centennial Cup final which wrapped up on Sunday.

Roy's Pickering Panthers were holding on to a 1-0 lead on a first-period goal from Ethan Doyle well into the final frame, but the Brooks Bandits -- who had the most potent offence of the tournament -- exploded for four third-period goals to give the Alberta Junior Hockey League champions a 4-1 win and their third national junior A hockey title.

Roy was stellar as he made 40 saves in Canada's Junior 'A' championship game which aired nationally Sunday afternoon on TSN.

It took the Bandits 33 shots before they finally beat Roy, who is committed to join the Nipissing Lakers varsity hockey team this fall.

The Panthers were outshot 44-11 in the final by the Bandits.

Roy, who spent two seasons in the OHL with the Hamilton Bulldogs, was solid for the Panthers throughout the tournament for the Ontario Jr A Hockey League champions.  In six games at the Centennial Cup, Roy sported a .921 save percentage and a 2.69 goals against average in his final half dozen games of his junior hockey career.
