The call is out for local performers, artists, and entertainers to showcase their talents on stage at the Kiwanis Bandshell this summer.

Submissions are open for both the City's Summer Concert Series and its Arts and Culture Nights, which will be returning to the waterfront bandshell on select nights throughout the summer.

Summer Concert Series: Local talents interested in participating in the Summer Concert Series are invited to submit their applications by March 20. The concerts will take place on selected Wednesday nights throughout July and August.

A committee will select up to 15 acts for the concert series lineup, and selected artists will be paid for each performance.

Arts and Culture Nights: The City is accepting applications until March 20 for this series of free arts and cultural activities. Up to nine acts will be selected for Arts and Culture Nights, which will take place on selected Tuesday nights starting in late June. Selected acts will be compensated for each performance.

"Together, the Summer Concert Series and Arts and Culture Nights drew thousands of people to the City's Waterfront, supporting and showcasing local talent for residents and visitors," said Bryan Kimber, Community Development Coordinator.  “We’re looking forward to another summer filled with these of events.”

Kimber says there were 67 applicants for 14 positions available at North Bay’s Summer Concert Series and the Civic holiday Hot Summer Night Music Festival last year.

He has some advice for bands hoping to snag a spot on this year's schedule.

First is to read the rules...being a local band is a big plus and having a website and a good social media following is also an asset.

"The more we know about them the better, explains Kimber. "We prefer an established group with a strong following. This means they have a good social media presence and have lots of fans who routinely come to their shows.  The more popular genres are rock, country, and blues."

The main demographic is aged 35 plus.
