Bonnie Zufelt believes the North Bay Police are doing a fine job so she wanted to recognize them.
Zufelt, who runs Partners Billiards and Bowling, just recently opened up thanks to the province's Stage 3 re-opening.
The local business owner got together with Got Skill, which is a gaming equipment supplier, to donate pizzas, donuts, and coffee for the North Bay Police Service Tuesday afternoon.
"They have been going around the province doing great things for frontline workers and essential services so he called and said he'd like to come to North Bay," said Zufelt, about the spread that could feed 40 people.
"It was my choice as to who we would pick, and right off the hop I said the North Bay Police Service."
The police appreciated the kind gesture.
"This is awesome," said Aaron Northrup, president of the North Bay Police Association.
"Bonnie is a great community partner. Quite often she is on the phone with our chief or deputy chief about helping out the downtown core and it is really nice of her and her sponsors to come and bring in this food and it's a little recognition for our people. We have had a lot of interaction with Bonnie over the years, she has been a stalwart in the community and I think everyone downtown knows her, a North Bay Sports Hall of Fame member. It is great she has come over to recognize us."
Zufelt believes the Police Service has earned it.
"I think they are very essential especially right now during COVID-19. Not only what they are doing for businesses but individuals as well and I am one of those businesses," said Zufelt.
"They have been so good whenever I have called so I understand what they have been going through as far as the services, drugs and break-ins and everything else. It is a tough job and social media makes it very very difficult," she added.
"People do not see half the stuff that they do and I do in the downtown core because the policing is a little bit more magnified down there. So I truly appreciate everything they do for the citizens of North Bay and the businesses."
