Latest COVID cases mean five in two days

The two latest cases are both in Nipissing District and involve people between the ages of 20 and 39

The Health Unit is reporting two more cases of COVID-19 in the district today, bringing to five the total in the past two days.

The district remains a green zone, however, meaning standard measures apply.

The two latest cases are both in Nipissing District and involve people between the ages of 20 and 39.

In one case the virus was acquired through community transmission while the other case is under investigation.

There are seven active cases in the district.

The total case count since the pandemic began is up to 56  with 48 resolved. There’s been one death.

Meanwhile, Sudbury continues to struggle with COVID.

A “handful of employees” at the Weston bakery have recently tested positive for COVID-19, the company has confirmed in an email statement to Village Media.

Based on the company’s contact tracing, Weston believes these infections are tied to a community outbreak, said the statement from company spokesperson Chris Davies.
