Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts is announcing the return of the annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, set to take place on Saturday, May 25.

"The funds raised for this event are vital to sustaining the Alzheimer's Society’s operations and ensuring that they can continue providing specialized programs and services tailored to support individuals and families navigating the challenges of dementia in North Bay and its surrounding regions," says a news release.

As the global prevalence of dementia continues its alarming rise, so does the number of individuals and families navigating its effects.

By the close of 2024, 316,000 will be living with dementia in Ontario, while an estimated 185,000 care partners will devote a collective 5,145,600 hours each week to providing invaluable, unpaid care throughout the year.

"The demand for community-based initiatives, like those championed by the Alzheimer Society Sudbury-Manitoulin North Bay & Districts, is more pressing than ever. They serve as lifelines, fostering dignity and quality of life for those living with dementia, while providing invaluable support to their families," explains the release.

“Without this event, we would not be able to provide the quality services that we do in our community for our families.  All funds raised remain right here in North Bay and surrounding regions, funding our programs and services to better support those living with dementia and their care partners”, says Shannon Ketchabaw, the Executive Director.
