Queen Elizabeth marks her Platinum Jubilee and 70 years as monarch today.

The 96-year-old Queen and her unprecedented seven decades on the throne will be marked in Canada by commemorative pins available to honour people who made significant contributions to the riding

To mark this milestone of Her Majesty’s reign, MP Anthony Rota will be recognizing exceptional community leaders in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

“If you know someone who has made a significant contribution through their work, volunteerism, activism, or community leadership, please consider nominating them for this once in a lifetime exceptional recognition,” says Rota.

Application forms can be accessed electronically here.

They ca also be picked up at the Constituency Office at 375 Main St. West in North Bay, or 112 Whitewood Ave. West in Temiskaming Shores.

The deadline is June 30 at 11:59 p.m. and completed applications or submissions can be sent to [email protected] or returned to either of the above offices. 

“It is important to recognize the work of community volunteerism, activism and leadership and make sure those efforts do not go unnoticed," says Rota."There are people working hard to make sure we can live and work in a place that is safe and celebrates many cultures and identities and I’m looking forward to honouring those members of our community with these commemorative pins.”

Nominees must be residents of the riding of Nipissing-Timiskaming, must have made meaningful and significant contributions to the community, and someone who has made a positive impact in the community by way of work or volunteering in, but not limited to, the arts, science, innovation, community service, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship, sports, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
