A joint City police operation named Project “Fall Sweep” saw 384 Charges laid against 131 criminals last month.
The effort targetted outstanding arrest warrants for people wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for a variety of offences, including failing to attend court, breaching release orders, thefts, assaults, drugs, and weapons.
The North Bay Police Service and the North Bay detachment of the OPP, joined forces during the month-long project,
Beginning November 1, 131 wanted parties were arrested who were facing a combined total of 323 charges. An additional 61 charges were processed for offences discovered upon their arrest.
Police say $158,390 worth of illegal drugs were seized.
“This was a collaborative effort between our two agencies where information was shared resulting in the arrest of individuals who were evading arrest," says North Bay Police Service Inspector of Operations, Jeff Warner. "Those individuals were located, arrested and brought before the courts to answer to the charges. The hard work of our policing professionals resulted in a successful initiative and the results speak for themselves.”
The following drugs were seized by police;
- 321.6 grams of Fentanyl
- 270.3 grams of crystal meth
- 66.2 grams of cocaine
- 500 tabs of meth
The total value of seized drugs was approximately $158,390
The following weapons and assets were seized;
- 9mm Glock 19 handgun with a round in the chamber and a full magazine
- 2013 Infiniti GAW vehicle
- Brass knuckles
- Butterfly flick knife
- $1,000 cash
Of the 131 suspects arrested, 57 were held for a bail hearing, 55 were released on an undertaking and 19 were released on an appearance notice.
