The local JDRF team launched the countdown to this year's Walk to Cure Diabetes during a thank you breakfast for their corporate event sponsors.

The event is scheduled for May 31st at Lee Park and as always JDRF walks have a theme so everyone is invited to saddle up, polish their spurs and dust off their 10-gallon hats and join in with the old west theme.

Walk Ambassadors for this year's walk are 9 year old Michael Aver a student at Ecole St. Vincent and 20 year old Darcy Rumble a student at Canadore College. Both Aver and Rumble have had to learn how to live as normal a life as possible while fitting in the day to day reality of multiple daily blood tests, insulin shots and living with a restricted diet.
