Jail locked down and inmate injured

BayToday.ca has learned that an inmate at the North Bay Jail was injured and taken to hospital Thursday afternoon.

BayToday.ca has learned that an inmate at the North Bay Jail was injured and taken to hospital Thursday afternoon.

“The Ministry can confirm that an incident took place today at the North Bay Jail in which an inmate was injured and required treatment at hospital,” said Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services official Brent Ross to BayToday.ca on Thursday night.

No word on the severity of the inmates injuries or how many inmates were involved in the incident.   The only other detail confirmed was that the jail was locked down.

“The unit in which the incident took place was locked down to accommodate the police investigation.  Given this matter is under investigation, it would be inappropriate to speak to any further details,” said Ross.
