Snow squalls created havoc in Muskoka over the weekend, and those squalls are now headed our way, although not as severe.
Lake effect squalls off Georgian Bay may move north into the area this evening, then shift north tonight as a low-pressure system brings additional snowfall. Snow squalls may then move south back into the area Wednesday night.
Expect locally heavy snowfall with accumulations near 15 cm and peak snowfall rates of 2 to 5 cm per hour. We'll experience very poor visibility at times in heavy and blowing snow.
Power outages are possible due to the heavy wet nature of the snow.
Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably; changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Road closures are possible.
A snow squall watch is issued for:
- North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
- Sudbury
- South River - Burk's Falls
- Huntsville
- West Nipissing - Parry Sound
- Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
- Témiscaming area, Que
- Deep River - Whitney - Eastern Algonquin Park,
