The 2008 Hunting Regulations Summary is now online and will be available at hunting licence issuers across the province the week of April 21.

Changes for this year include additional wild turkey spring seasons in three Wildlife Management Units in central Ontario. Also, for the first time, a fall wild turkey hunt is proposed for 2008.

The summary provides information on upcoming changes, including a new non-resident Outdoors Card to be introduced in 2009 and information on the review of Ontario’s moose program.

• All revenue from sales of hunting and fishing licences in Ontario is used for wildlife and fisheries management.

• Since the initial release of wild turkeys as part of a restoration project in 1984, the wild turkey population in Ontario has grown to 70,000 birds.
