Humidex expected to reach 38 today as heat warning continues

It's going to be another hot one today!

Environment Canada is continuing with its heat warning today for:

  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • West Nipissing - French River
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
  • Temiskaming Shores - Temagami  - Kirkland Lake 

 

The heat event is expected from today into Tuesday.

Maximum temperatures today are expected to reach between 28 and 30 degrees with humidex values of 38.

Expect a mix of sun and cloud today with a 30 per cent chance of showers this morning and 70 per cent chance of showers late this afternoon.

There is also the risk of a thunderstorm and a severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for theTémiscaming area capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Minimum overnight temperatures will be between 18 and 20 degrees.

A slightly cooler and less humid airmass will arrive in the area late on Tuesday.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the Air Quality Health Index to approach the high-risk category.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Check on older family, friends and neighbours to make sure they are cool and drinking water

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
