A well-known restaurant in North Bay closed its doors recently.

"We regret to announce that the Home Style Café is closing its doors indefinitely, effective today, January 8, 2025," management stated on social media. "We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your patronage and support over the years. It has been our privilege to serve this community. Thank you for being part of our journey."

Three full-time and two part-time employees lost their jobs. The Home Style Cafe was located on Wallace Road, near Pete Palangio Arenas.

The Home Style Cafe was operated through Community Living North Bay and provided employment and a teaching environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

"This has been a deeply emotional time for us, as the decision to close was not made lightly, said Marianne Raymond, the program's director. "We truly appreciate the community support of our café over the years. While we had many loyal customers that we will dearly miss, we did not have enough customers for the café to be profitable. As the café does not receive funding, we are not able to operate the café at a loss.

"We remain proud of the memories and connections we’ve been fortunate to share with our customers and the broader community."

The restaurant was a not-for-profit, with all the proceeds going right back into Community Living programs and services.

Anyone who currently has a Home Style Cafe gift card with a balance can contact Raymond at [email protected] for reimbursement.
