Dozens of indigenous teenage girls ages are in the area participating in season 7 of the hockey reality TV show "Hit the Ice."
The show started filming on Wednesday afternoon in Powasssan at the Sportsplex as well as dryland training in the curling venue next door.
The 13-episode series, features teenage female hockey players from 15 to 18 years of age, from communities across the country.
The participants, including some locals, are put through the paces of a real NHL style training camp by a team led by a top professional coach in the form of Ryerson Rams head coach Lisa Haley, who was also a gold medal winner with Team Canada at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2014 as an assistant coach.
After the Powassan tryout camp, the filming will move across the border where the girls will be followed as the Hit the Ice team participates in the Beantown Classic hockey tournament in Boston.
The filming and the tryouts will wrap up in Powassan on July 17th.
