Work is underway to repair Commanda Lake Road to provide an alternate route for light traffic to communities west of the Highway 522 washout says Gordan Rennie, Regional Issues and Media Advisor with the Ministry of Transportation.
"Crews are hoping to have Commanda Lake Road open later tonight, but we are not able to provide a firm timeline yet. The road has reduced load restrictions and only suitable for light vehicles. Heavy traffic should take Highway 17 or 124 to Highway 69 to access Highway 522 from the west."

OPP and the Argyle Fire Department say that Highway 522 is closed at Tricky Hill in both directions, including the Commanda Lake Road as the road is completely washed out.

The only alternative route in or out of town is the West Road to Highway 69.
The closure is expected to be lengthy.
"It is unsafe for anyone to be near fast running water including culverts, and please stay off the lakes. We are still under a rainfall warning at this time meaning flooding is possible. Parents please ensure that your children are safe when venturing outside," says a tweet from the fire department.
