Health Unit Has Bad Timing

The North Bay-Parry Sound District Health Unit wants to move and went looking for support from all the region councils to move into a facility by June 2008.

Councillor Mike Anthony found the request odd in light of the current legal wrangling between the two parties. Anthony told council Tuesday that with no facts provided around the intention, he would not at this time entertain any such request.

“Timing is everything, and with all the issues we’ve had facing us with the health unit, this is not the time for us to be considering building a new facility,” states Anthony.

“Plus there’s too little information in the request for our support, and we don’t know the financial implications…and we have to worry about the “financial” health of the community just as we need to take care of medical and physical health issues.”
