After a lengthy absence, North Bay has re-entered the Communities in Bloom competition.
Communities in Bloom (CiB) is a "volunteer and partnership-driven charitable organization that inspires all communities to enhance the quality of life and our environment through people and plants in order to create community pride. They strive to be a collaborative and inclusive organization where everyone is welcomed and feels comfortable, respected, and valued," says a news release from the North Bay group.

"This is a great opportunity to showcase how beautiful our city is and what it has to offer! We will be competing against other cities our size on a provincial level. We will be judged on six key criteria: Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape, and Plant & Floral Displays," adds the release.
“Participating in CiB has many benefits including growth in civic pride, a positive sense of community, and tangible improvements generated by their efforts are immediately felt," said Hariett Madigan. "Communities in Bloom is a community program where everyone wins!”
Clean Green Beautiful has multiple initiatives dedicated to getting the community, businesses, institutions, and municipality involved in creating a cleaner, more beautiful city.
"Initiatives to keep watch for are Streetscapes, where you have the chance to nominate a neighbour or business for their beautiful yard/storefront," adds Madigan. "Clean sweep, where businesses take the time to keep their storefront clean and litter free and CGB annual Community-Wide Cleanup happening on Earth Day!"
Clean Green Beautiful North Bay is a grassroots organization. Mission to foster stewardship of our land, water, and community with a focus on raising civic pride. Vision to enhance the beauty of our city in public, private, and unexpected places, while valuing education on sustainable practices.
