Once again without fail the annual Grape Stomping Festival at the Davedi Club was the city's party of the year.

Young and old attended the sold out event marking the 10th anniversary festival that saw club members, local celebrities, political hopefuls and even a wedding party toss off their socks and release some pent up frustration by crushing grapes between their toes.

Grape stomping is an Italian tradition that goes back to the Bacchanalian era where the harvesting of grapes demonstrated the closeness of family, and community. It also demonstrates the pride in making the wine and sharing the work.

The festival started out with mostly Italian club members, but over the years has welcomed people of ethnic backgrounds including French, English, Scottish, Greek, Portuguese, and German to name a few.

The juice from the stomping was later raffled off.
