Just before the Christmas Holidays 10-year old Shaun Haider came home from school and decided he wanted to do something to help sick people in the community. After careful thought and discussion with his brother Sam he decided to make bookmarks to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society North Bay Chapter.

“Yes my brother and I were talking on the way home and we decided we wanted to do something for people,” says the Grade 5 JW Trusler Public School student.
With the help of his brother and grandmother Haider whipped up the colourful bookmarks and put them up for sale for a dollar each out of his mother and father’s (Sam & Bisma) shop Euphoria Smoothies on Main Street.

On Monday Shaun met with Susan Plamondon at the Society office on McIntyre Street where he delivered the $46.48 he collected. He also delivered the remaining bookmarks to Plamondon so anyone is interested in buying one in support of the Canadian Cancer Society can do so.
