Unprecedented numbers of people turned out to visitation for OPP Constable Laurie Hawkins at the McGuinty Funeral Home Friday and it is expected the numbers will increase today as folks from southern Ontario arrive in North Bay for the officer’s funeral.
Hawkins died in North Bay General Hospital Tuesday after suffering the effects of carbon monoxide poising. Her husband Richard, 40, daughter Cassandra, 14, and son Jordan, 12, were found dead when police forced their way into their Woodstock home December 1st.
An investigation exposed that a blocked vent for a natural gas fireplace was the cause of the carbon monoxide build up in the home.
The funeral mass takes place today at 11am at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Algonquin Avenue.
