Freezing rain warning in effect in North Bay and area

Precipitation is expected to begin near midday Wednesday and may initially fall as snow or ice pellets before changing to freezing rain

Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for:

  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • West Nipissing - French River
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
  • South River - Burk's Falls
  • Huntsville - Baysville
  • Témiscaming area
  • Ville-Marie area
  • Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
  • Kirkland Lake - Englehart

Freezing rain is expected on Wednesday.

Precipitation is expected to begin late this morning or early afternoon and may initially fall as snow or ice pellets before changing to freezing rain. A few hours of freezing rain is likely before the precipitation transitions to rain this afternoon as temperatures rise.

Up to 2 mm of ice accretion is possible.

For North Bay, cloudy this morning then freezing rain changing to rain showers or drizzle this afternoon. Fog patches developing this afternoon. Wind southeast 20 km/h. High plus 3. 

Tonight, showers or drizzle. 

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
