Freezing rain warning issued for:
- North Bay - West Nipissing,
- Greater Sudbury and vicinity,
- New Liskeard - Temagami,
Current details:
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.
Freezing rain likely Sunday into Sunday night.
A band of freezing rain, ahead of a warm front associated with a strong low pressure area from Texas, will move across much of Northeastern Ontario beginning Sunday morning near Lake Superior, and in the afternoon in regions further to the east.
Many areas will likely receive freezing rain over a 3 to 6 hour period.
Motorists should alter travel plans accordingly.
Untreated surfaces may become quite icy and slippery, resulting in hazardous winter driving conditions. The freezing rain will change over to plain rain Sunday night as the warm front gets closer and temperatures rise to above the zero degree mark.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Utility outages may occur. Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
