On Wednesday, Nov. 22, just after midnight, members of the North Bay Detachment of the OPP, North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, and District of Nipissing Paramedic Services responded to a head-on collision involving two CMVs.

Within minutes of the collision, a second collision occurred when a snow plow drove over the significant debris on the highway.

Nipissing District Paramedic Services transported two drivers and two passengers to the hospital. One of the drivers has suffered life-altering injuries. The driver of the snow plow was not injured.

The Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team also attended to assist with the investigation.

The highway has been closed for several hours and it is going to remain closed for quite some time in order to complete the investigation and clear the highway of all debris.

The OPP is encouraging drivers to review detour options to avoid congestion on local highways and roadways.

For detours, travel west on Highway 17 to Sturgeon Falls, and take Highway 64 to the north of Marten River where it meets Highway 11 north. Or, take Highway 63 to Quebec, then cross to New Liskeard.

More information will be provided when it becomes available.
