Former Battalion sniper gets the call to The Show

The LA Kings have recalled former North Bay Battalion forward Michael Amadio from the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today. 

The 21-year-old Amadio (born May 13, 1996) is a 6-1, 204-pound native of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario who has appeared in five games this season for Ontario, the Kings AHL affiliate, recording two points (0-2=2). He leads the team in assists and ranks tied for first in points.

This marks his first career NHL recall.

Selected in the third-round (90th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Amadio has appeared in 73 career AHL games with Ontario, posting 43 points (16-27=43), a plus-5 rating and four penalty minutes.

Before starting his professional career with the Reign last season, he appeared in four seasons with the North Bay Battalion where he registered 226 points (92-134=226), a plus-72 rating and 80 penalty minutes in 263 games.

His final season with North Bay he served as the team captain and posted a team-high 50 goals and a team-high 98 points.  

Amadio joins the Kings tonight as they face the struggling Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre tonight.  

It is not certain whether he will play or if he will be a healthy scratch.  

The Kings' 7-1-1 record matches their best start through their first nine games in franchise history.
