Premier Doug Ford was in North Bay yesterday as a number of government ministers met at the Davedi Club for fundraising dinner in advance of attending the International Plowing Match in Verner today.
Ford was greeted by a number of protesters, including NDP candidate for Nipissing-Timiskaming Rob Boulet.
Picketers were rallying against funding cuts.
“We know the Conservatives have a history of service cuts and tax credits that benefit the wealthiest individuals and corporations. This is typical behavior of the Tories; they underfund a service, claim it is broken and then privatize the service, which we know only hurts everyday Canadians more," Boulet said in a news release. "We’re living it in Ontario today and all of Canada lived through it during the Harper years.”
Ford is scheduled to attend the International Plowing Match Opening Ceremonies in Verner at noon today where he is expected to make an announcement.
Later today political leaders will face off in their own plowing contest.
Ford was not made available for media interviews.
