To kick off the 30th Anniversary celebrations the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company will fly a special flag at City Hall Monday morning.

All past and present volunteers associated with the decades of success are invited to participate at 10 a.m. at Leger Square.

Dr. Rod Johnston, Chair of the Heritage Railway and Carousel Company, will represent the group in raising the Heritage Railway and Carousel Flag to celebrate the long standing waterfront volunteer attraction.

"This moment will add to honouring the hundreds of community volunteers plus the many partnerships with clubs, organizations, adopters, sponsors who collaborated with the vision of celebrating our city's railway history and expanding with the attractive and engaging carousels," says a news release.

There will be a formal 30th Anniversary ceremony recognition of the family-focused attraction on Saturday, August 31 at 1 p.m.

"We will also recognize a number of original 1994 Charter volunteers, the key leaders who were involved in the success of the two carousels and  a unique opportunity to celebrate the 2,000,000 rider.
