No-one was injured in the blaze that left six people homeless.
The owner intends to rebuild.
At the time, upstairs tenant Jeff Pilon told BayToday that he lost two cats and six kittens in the fire.
He managed to save his two dogs.
The fire started at 3:45 a.m.
Pilon says it started as a regular morning and he was sipping a cup of coffee while he got ready for work.
Then he heard three people, including a cab driver yelling "Is anyone in there?", from outside the home.
Pilon says his girlfriend, Tabaithe Fleming jumped out of bed yelling "the house is on fire!"
"I was in shock and awe. I grabbed my pets and ran out of the house."
It's still unknown at this time what caused the fire.
The Fire Marshall has not made public any report.
The fire is seen as suspicious however. City police are assisting the Fire Marshall in the investigation. Fire officials have pegged damage at half a million dollars.
