Fire bans lifted

That big downpour this weekend had a positive side to it.

Both North Bay and Callander have lifted open air fire bans that were imposed because of the hot dry weather.

That means you can now enjoy camp fires and use backyard fire pits.

However, use caution when burning.

“Even with the rain the City received over the weekend, it is still quite dry and residents are encouraged to exercise caution with any open flame,” said Greg Saunders, Interim Fire Chief. “We will continue to monitor the conditions, as the risk can increase again due to the pre-existing dry conditions that we have been experiencing all summer.”

North Bay residents are reminded that a permit for all open burning is required.
