The Ontario government will spend more than $2 million to help ease hospital pressures in Nipissing, MPP Vic Fedeli announced today.

It’s part of a $90 million province-wide announcement, which will help ease the alternative level of care pressures related to the closure of the 66-bed Lady Isabelle long-term care facility in Trout Creek.

The local funding will be used for 26 beds:

  • A 14-bed transitional care unit at North Bay Regional Health Centre – 10 beds for at-risk older adults and four short-term stay beds in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society of North Bay.
  • Funding will also be used for 12 spaces in a specialized day program with the Alzheimer’s Society of North Bay.

“This is critical to easing hospital pressures in Nipissing, and is part of our overall core commitment to cut hospital wait times and end hallway health care,” said Fedeli.
