The driver of the car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries along with the second passenger who suffered serious injuries.

The driver of the transport was not injured.

Highway 11 North was closed for approximately three hours.

Greg Saunders, North Bay's deputy fire chief says they helped rescue three people involved in the collision.

"It was an awful collision up on the north highway," Saunders told the media. "We had to unfortunately conduct an extrication and there were three people in the vehicle. I don't know their status but it was not a great accident obviously but our firefighters successfully extricated the people from the car."

The investigation is still ongoing and police say further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Members of the OPP Northeast Region Emergency Response Team as well as the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team assisted with the investigation.
