On December 23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the North Bay OPP and the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TTCI), North Bay Fire and Emergency Services responded to a three vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 11, by-pass.

Preliminary investigation revealed a southbound car was rear-ended by a southbound vehicle which caused the car to enter into the northbound lane where it was struck by a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the car, Real Benoit, 79-year-old from North Bay, was taken by North Bay District Ambulance to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. It was his 56th wedding anniversary to his wife Suzanne (nee Ouellet) according to Hillside Funeral.

The investigation is still ongoing and police say as of December 30th, no charges have been laid.
