Fatal accident on Hwy 11 N.

A single motor vehicle accident Sunday on Hwy 11 N. at Thibeault Hill has left a Southern Ontario man dead.

Pierre Gagnon, 22, of Port Colborne, was pronounced dead at North Bay General Hospital shortly after being transported by ambulance.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a southbound 1998 Chrysler Intrepid veer across four lanes of Hwy 11 at approximately 12:25 p.m..

The vehicle rolled, struck a lamp post and came to rest in the east ditch near Cedar Heights Road.

Three of the four occupants of the vehicle suffered minor injuries, while the driver sustained fatal injuries from the collision.

One OPP investigator reported that all of the occupants were using seatbelts and child restraint systems, and alchohol does not appear to be a factor in this tragedy.

An OPP technical traffic collision investigator attended the scene and is continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
