Lucas Edmonds is a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Tampa Bay Lightning traded a fourth-round pick (103rd overall, originally CHI) and a sixth-round pick (169th, originally DET) to the Los Angeles Kings for the 86th overall pick in the third round.

With that pick, they traded up to take Edmonds.

NHL Analyst EJ Hradek, compared the pick to the Lightning selecting Brayden Point who was selected 78th overall by the Bolts back in 2014.

"I couldn't be happier," said Edmonds while putting on the Tampa Bay Lightning jersey and hat for the first time before his media availability.

Edmonds, the 20-year-old had an amazing season in 2021-22, exploding for over 100 points in his only year of major junior hockey with the Kingston Frontenacs as an overage skilled forward.

North Bay overage forward Lucas Edmonds of the Kingston Frontenacs was named the third all-star team right winger. Edmonds had an impressive overage season as a rookie registering 34 goals and 79 assists for 113 points.

Edmonds was listed at 104th for North American Skaters in the final rankings listed by NHL Central Scouting this spring.

With that selection, that makes it back-to-back seasons where a North Bay area player has been selected in the NHL Entry Draft.

Last summer, Sarnia Sting Goaltender and Corbeil product Ben Gaudreau was selected in the third round, 81st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. by the San Jose Sharks.
