The Eau Claire Gorge Conservation Area will be starring in the upcoming movie “Lakewood” and so will be closed to the public for four days while filming takes place.

North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority’s 120ha conservation area, located in Calvin Township off Hwy 630,  will be closed today until Sept. 23 to accommodate filming, but will be open on the weekend, September 19 and 20.

“This film’s contribution to NBMCA will help support the maintenance of our conservation areas," said NBMCA Chair Dave Mendicino. "The industry brought more than $46 million in spending to the region last year and we’ve been pleased to see a number of productions filmed in our conservation areas,”

“The Gorge is a spectacular, natural and historic setting in Calvin Township.  We’re delighted to play host to the film industry in our township,” added Dean Grant, Calvin Councillor and NBMCA Board Member.

The thriller “Lakewood” follows a mother, starring Naomi Watts, who desperately races against time to save her child as authorities place her small town on lockdown.
