When you hear of drugs, guns and bikers, you don't usually picture people riding e-bikes.
But that's exactly what happened Saturday afternoon in Sturgeon Falls.
Around 2:45 p.m., while on patrol, an officer from the Nipissing West OPP saw two e-bikes travelling together and recognized the drivers to be violating their court-ordered release conditions.
The officer stopped both e-bikes on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls and arrested both riders.
Officers seized a replica handgun, a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine, and over $1,500 in cash.
The street value of the drugs is approximately $16,000.
As a result, Joseph Comanda, 27, from West Nipissing Sturgeon Falls is charged with:
- Two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - other drugs
- Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Two counts of failure to comply with a release order - other than to attend court
Commanda was held in custody and was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice - Bail Court today in North Bay.
The other rider, Julie Larocque, 27, from North Bay is charged with:
- Three counts of failure to comply with a release order - other than to attend court
